Isabel and I love drawing together. Colouring, cutting, gluing: she doesn't mind which, as long as we do it together. So we already had plenty of colouring and activity books at home.
Still, something was missing. Almost all of those books are made for the child. I'd sit next to her, pass her a pencil, help with a tricky corner. But mostly, I watched.
And the activity books that asked for more soon started to feel like homework. Finish this. Follow these steps. Find the right answer. Exactly what you don't want on a Sunday afternoon.
I wanted something we could both really take part in. Where my drawing counts just as much as hers. With no right or wrong, and nothing that has to be finished.
That became the idea: an adventure in two parts. Isabel colours the rocket, I colour the starry sky. Or the other way round; she usually decides. Then we cut, move everything around and glue it down. What's on the table at the end is something we truly made together.
That's Ismika. A world we make together, and hopefully one your family can make too.
